This. Is. Not. A. Drill. Sex and the City — the iconic TV show that finished its initial run in 2004 — is coming back to television.
It’s returning with a different name, too: And Just Like That, which was revealed in a teaser shared by the show’s stars on social media.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new series will be ten episodes long, with original cast members Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis returning to reprise their respective roles of Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte.
Notice a missing name there? Kim Cattrall, who famously portrayed SATC character Samantha, won’t be returning for the new series.
Series creator Darren Star won’t be returning either, but Michael Patrick King — who won an Emmy for his work directing on the original series — will serve as the show’s Executive Producer.
THR says that production on And Just Like That will begin later this year in NYC (of course), and that the show will follow the characters “as they navigate friendship in their 50s.”
There’s no premiere date set just yet, and we couldn’t help but wonder: Is there such a thing as being too excited?
