A pretty power strip with a braided cord — it’s practical and will match your bedroom decor.

a lavender power strip

Amazon

Promising review: “Love the clean design on this extension cord! Looks very modern and nice in our house, I love that I don’t have to fuss with a tangled plastic cord and it actually looks nice where the cord is exposed. I also like how the cord comes out of the side of the plug, so that you can easily plug it in behind furniture without kinking the cord or pulling your furniture out awkwardly. I plan to buy more of these.” —Lizzy

Get it from Amazon for $10.38+ (available 2 outlets/2 USB ports, 3 outlets, or 6 outlets, and 12 colors).

2.

A white noise sound machine to soothe you to sleep each evening after you’ve accidentally watched too much news.

the white noise machine

Amazon

Promising review: “Picture this: you’re walking down a creepy forest where everything and everyone, mainly all the wildlife, is making their normal loud noises. The environment is not inviting to take a nap there, but then angels appear and say, ‘we will sing for you now.’ They proceed to sing, and their song is in synchronized humming and the next thing you know you’re out!! Freakin’ angels! What have you done to me?! I fall asleep like a baby!” —David Hernandez

Get it from Amazon for $44.95 (available in five colors).

3.

A rechargeable hand warmer complete with double-sided heat and three different heat settings you can adjust to your environment.

Amazon

Psst — this is USB rechargeable, and you can even use a power bank or your phone to charge it!

Promising review: “This hand warmer is amazing! My hands are constantly cold and I’ve tried all sorts of products to help keep them warm but nothing has worked until now. I charge the hand warmer every night with a standard USB charger and the next day, I have hours of warmth. The three temperature settings are very helpful — I use the highest setting when I’m outdoors for long periods of time and the lower settings when I’m indoors (e.g. sitting at my desk or in a cold movie theater). I’ve already given hand warmers as gifts to several cold-handed friends and family members and they’re loving it as well. I hope Ocoopa comes out with a foot warmer next!” —Riva Kupritz

Get it from Amazon for $28.99+ (available in six colors, or in a two-pack for $46.98).

the inside of the card with different wires and adaptors

Amazon

Promising review: “I know everyone says this, but I REALLY don’t usually write reviews — really! I generally order from Amazon and once the purchase arrives I forget about it. But this is truly a great item to have around. It’s compact, has all the connections I need, has built-in wireless charging, supports micro SD cards so it can be used as storage, has a built-in light that’s pretty bright — it’s just so freakin’ handy! Order an extra one for a buddy so you can nerd out .” —Alex

A rechargeable lighter, so you can light every candle in your house to create the *perfect* ambiance without concern you’ll run out of lighter fluid.

Heather Braga / BuzzFeed, Amazon

I’m obsessed with candles, so it was a no-brainer for my husband to gift me this surprisingly super fun gadget for Christmas. It’s really simple to use and charge, and it really works! I’ll never have to buy another lighter again.

Promising review: “This is seriously the coolest device of my winter holiday. It makes lighting candles a breeze. Yes, there is a weird crackling noise, but that’s a super minor annoyance. It’s a super intuitive device. Plus the lighter with the USB (included), charge for a bit, then pop it open and light ALL THE THINGS; well, candles. I don’t know how well it lights cigarettes or whatever. However, for my personal intended use, it’s awesome!” —Jee W

A John Frieda hot brush for anyone who looooves to get pampered with a blow out but can’t actually afford to get one every week.

a side by side of a buzzfeed editor and a reviewer with nice wavy hair

BuzzFeed / amazon.com

Promising review: “This is amazing, not only was it so easy and fast… I have a salon blowout that actually looks great…and I never went to the salon! The best I do is flat iron or messy bun, mkay? But I’m obsessed. When I go to the salon it looks great for two days and then bam I’m crying, ’cause I can’t get my hair pretty like she did it, and now I hate it and myself. Sound familiar? Well I’m living proof this is amazing and it truly works. I won’t lie I was hesitant because this looks and sound like crap/too good to be true. It’s not!!! Happy buying — I’m buying another for my mom for Xmas how awesome!” —tangi raysor

An external battery charger that’ll save you when you inevitably leave the house before charging your phone…again.

Amazon

With over 2K five-star reviews, this external battery is just what you need for a snowstorm! Whether you lose power or you simply enter such a cozy state you can’t bear the thought of getting out of bed to charge your phone, this product is essential for keeping your battery charged.

Promising review: “This bad boy holds a lot of power for charging iPhones multiple times (like on a long journey away from power). Plus it holds a charge pretty well. Rechargeable lithium batteries are known to leak power over time and this will, too, but the capacity is so high that the leakage is inconsequential. I charged mine and let it sit for a month without using it. It still showed four of four dots and recharged to the top fairly quickly (sorry, I didn’t time it).” —Steve B

Get it from Amazon for $19.95.

An air fryer (from the makers of the INSTANT POT!!), perfect for anyone who hasn’t always been a big fan of leftovers but wants to make the most of all their delicious homemade meals. Best of all? You can crisp up your fave foods without all that oil.

Hannah Loewentheil / BuzzFeed

BuzzFeed editor Hannah Loewentheil finally caved and bought an air fryer while in quarantine, and she’s glad she did:

“I’d been contemplating buying an air fryer for quite some time, but it wasn’t until I found myself cooking every night with my family due to COVID-19 that I finally decided it was the right time to get one. Friends of mine were raving about their new Instant Vortex Plus 6-in-1 Air Fryer, so after reading similar feedback on Amazon, I decided it looked like a winner. And it happens to be made by the same company that makes the crowd-favorite Instant Pot. I figured I would be using this appliance primarily as air air fryer, but as an added bonus, it can also roast, broil, bake, re-heat, and dehydrate food.

I’ve had this air fryer for about three weeks now, and I can honestly say it’s become the hero of my kitchen. It preheats quickly, it’s large enough to hold a good amount of food at once, it’s easy to clean, and it makes food taste crispy on the outside and moist on the inside without any oil. I’ve been using my air fryer to make vegetables just about every night and it makes them taste so good. If you’re cooking for kids, picky eaters, or you just don’t get so excited about eating vegetables, the air fryer could be perfect for you. If you like chicken, the air fryer might change your life, and I don’t mean that to be dramatic. The air fryer produces restaurant-quality chicken that tastes absurdly decadent, except there’s no oil involved in the cooking — just air. We also tried making sesame chicken in the air fryer using boneless skinless chicken thighs. The sesame chicken tasted almost identical to my favorite Chinese takeout, and it had nothing to do with my cooking skills. Thanks to the air fryer, the chicken gets so crispy. I couldn’t believe I made this at home!!”

Wireless sleep headphones that’ll play soothing sounds through a headband to help you drift off to sleep — a must-have for anyone who lives on a busy street or has noisy neighbors.

A model sleeping with the headphone band around her ears

Amazon

Promising review: “I love love love these! I have been suffering from insomnia for over a year. Partly because my husband snores so loudly. I’ve tried regular ear buds, which fall out, sleep aids, you name it. Nothing else was working, so finally broke down and bought these. I’m so glad I did! Last night I wore these sleep headphones for the first time and fell asleep so fast! I put white noise on and it completely drowned out the snoring! Definitely try these if you have trouble falling asleep. They were super comfy and easy to sync with my phone. The instructions were quite detailed but they were so easy I didn’t need to read the instructions.”—Julie Simbto

A splurge-worthy rowing machine for anyone who ended their gym membership this year but still wants to workout like Kate Middleton in her college days.

a model on the rowing machine

hydrow_by_crew / Via instagram.com

The rowing machine is one of the things I miss the most from the gym — the Hydrow Rowing Machine seems like the perfect way to fill the void. This machine has a full screen attached to it that’ll provide an immersive experience to make anyone feel like they’re *really* chopping water while breaking a swear. It can be used with or without a subscription, making it a great gift option.

Promising review: “I own a Peloton bike and I use it regularly. The biggest issue with the bike is that it’s almost all quad. Your upper leg is working like crazy and the cardio is really intense. The problem with the bike is that it doesn’t do the rest of your body. I bought the Hydrow to try to get a full body workout and it’s really great. You’re effectively doing a squat, crunch and push up each time you row. When it’s over you really feel as though you’ve worked out your entire body. The classes are great too. You see the instructor on the screen and you’re mirroring them, so when they go fast so do you. I took a class yesterday and they were in Miami and there were dolphins in the open water. It was pretty neat. Anyway, it’s nice to go stroke for stroke with them and it makes it a lot more enjoyable than a traditional rower. I love it and my family has been using it more than the Peloton.” —David

Get it from Best Buy or Hydrow for $1,995.

You can also consider the Starter Package from Hydrow for $2,245, complete with the rowing machine, under machine mat, Polar heart rate monitor, Jaybird Tarah Pro Wireless Headphones or a one-year subscription for $456.

Apple AirPod Pro earbuds so you can happily listen to the latest Taylor Swift album without your roomies or family members complaining “do we haaaave to hear this agaaaain?”

a reviewer's photo of the airpod pros in their charging case

amazon.com

…and might I recommend the too-cute AirPod Pro cases from Rifle Paper while you’re at it? My fellow editor, Emma Lord may have just convinced me to upgrade from my old AirPods:

“I have a pair of these, and they’re not playing around. Once they’re securely in your ear, you can toggle the headphones between noise-cancelling and regular sound, depending on your situation. I’ve been working from home, and the noise-cancelling is so effective that I can work next to a window where my neighbor is doing heavy construction and I don’t hear anything louder than a faint buzzing. It’s quieter than if I’d just plugged my ears with my own fingers. I’m also a runner, and these don’t budge when you’re sweating, which is nice. It’s also handy that these toggle out of noise-cancellation mode, because I feel better being able to hear traffic and other people around me when I’m out and about. The TL;DR: I love these so much I have zero interest in owning another pair of headphones for as long as I live.

A wireless endoscope gadget you’ll absolutely want in your toolbox if you’re a homeowner — it has a teeny tiny camera on the end you can send behind walls or into drains to see what’s going on before calling in a professional.

Amazon

This is literally the only thing on my husband’s Christmas list. He found this online and was absolutely blown away by the technology. This tool connects to an app on your phone, allowing you to problem solve without having to spend an exorbitant amount of money.

Promising review:This camera works so well, it’s almost a joke. An overhead light in my boat’s cabin had a severed wire. The hole to access the wire is not even 1/2” in diameter, and the gap in the ceiling is only 2” tall. Adjusted the semi rigid cable, located the severed wire, went back in with the hook attached, and voila!” —the family cook

A splurge-worthy Dyson Airwrap styler you’ve likely seen your favorite celeb raving about — it’ll replace your blow dryer, multiple curling irons, and quite possibly your regular ol’ hairbrush while also leaving you with extra bathroom storage space *and* fabulous looking hair.

dysonhair / Via instagram.com, Sephora

Promising review: “Wow, yes the price is steep comparably, but the product is amazing. I received this today and immediately tried it out on my 16-year-old daughter’s hair. In less than 10 minutes (including a little new user trial and error) her hair went from damp and straight to dry with beautiful smooth curls. I can’t wait to try it tomorrow on my long hair and to experiment with the other included tools! As for the price, I figure it will pay for itself in about 10 blowouts done myself versus at the salon.” —JulieQ1979

Rubbermaid’s power scrubbing brush, for when you want to give your grout an all-inclusive spa treatment and bring it back to its squeaky-clean glory.

Natalie Brown / BuzzFeed, amazon.com

Promising review: “The Power Scrubber is life-changing. I bought it several weeks ago with the intention of doing a deep clean ‘sometime soon.’ After an overflowing toilet incident, I had to make sure it got done right away. MY GROUT HAS NEVER BEEN CLEANER. I used some Comet and spray cleaner to get the job done, but this made short work for what typically requires ‘a lot of elbow grease’ and a spent toothbrush. With this tool, you really know you’re getting in there and it’s clean. I can’t recommend this enough — I’ve already mentioned it to a neighbor, and a few friends, including one fanatical cleaner. We all agreed, it’s such a necessary, perfect product.” —Jojo

A Theragun mini, ideal if stress and your workouts wear your body out and you’d likely benefit from an at-home solution to soothe your tired muscles.

a model holding the handheld theragun tool

therabody / Via instagram.com

I have one of these bad boys and it has honestly been a game changer. When I posted on my Instagram that I had received one, the responses I got were WILD. People are PASSIONATE about this gadget and now I understand why. I’ve used it on the arches of my feet and have way less pain than ever before. The nozzle at the end contracts at a high speed (think, a tiny punching machine) that surprisingly doesn’t hurt but leaves your body buzzing in a good way. At thise point I’ve gotten one for my sister, my parents, and my in-laws who are all in love with this gadget.

Don’t be intimidated by its appearance. It’s simple to use and extremely effective. It feels similar to managing a hand mixer — weird, but true. In my opinion, it’s worth the money and it actually does work.

Promising review: “I received a Mini as a gift from my daughter last Christmas and LOVE it. It helps my sore muscle, aches and pain a great deal. It’s small, light weight and not noisy, I take it every where I go. Bought one recently as a gift to my brother for his birthday so we can spread the love and help his aching body.” —Po W.

A mini tower with 10 outlets that’ll act as a battery backup so if (God forbid!) the power goes out, you won’t lose all the progress you made building your dream home on The Sims.

a black tower with many outlets

Amazon

Promising review: “I am the proud owner of three of these (so far). They’re quiet when on AC power. They have great customization. I’ve muted the beeps and warnings so if the power kicks off, they just take over without distracting me further. I LOVE the two front USB plugs. I charge devices from them all the time. The LED screen is off by default until you press a button, so other than the dimly lit power button on the front, there’s no distracting lights or sounds under normal use on AC power. So, how well do they work? Well, I’ve owned a lot of UPSes. These are by far much quieter than any I’ve purchased from APC. They have a true sine wave output (which is amazing!), and the 1500VA is perfect for most electronics. The front screen will tell you how much of a load you have plugged in and even an estimate for how long the unit should run given that load if you lost power. So, no surprises!” —Ramze

HyperX’s Cloud II gaming headset, so you can continue to defend your honor while playing Among Us with your friends, who *always* say you’re acting sus (and for good reason because, jokes on them, you actually ARE the imposter).

Amazon, amazon.com

Promising review: “This headset is honestly the best for the price. Yeah, it may not have ‘fancy’ little lights or anything like that too flashy but these guys PERFORM! I’ve had mine for over a year and they’re as good as day one. They hold up well to wear and tear, they still look new after a year of them being used just about everyday. These are amazing, you can hear so well, the sound is crisp and clear. The mic picks up great too. One of my favorite things is that if you’re in a room with other people they won’t be heard through the other end unless they’re shouting or are really loud. These have reallyyyy good noise canceling. I’d buy the same exact headset if my headset ever gave out.” —Diana

An all-in-one vacuum and mop that’ll leave your entire home fresh ‘n’ clean with you having to hit pause *or* your roomie having to lift a finger — a gesture you’ll both appreciate.

the vacuum/mop

Amazon

My parents recently bit the bullet and brought a robo-vac into their home. They were hesitant about the new tech, but after giving it a go and seeing how thorough this lil’ machine was they were over the moon. My mom especially loves how it has the ability to not only vacuum, but mop the entire house as well. It’s magical.

Promising review: “Pricey but well worth it. My husband uses a push-style broom on our hardwood floors about four times a week. He tries hard but I felt like my feet were always picking up dirt. This little guy did about 2,000 square feet of our home in no time with battery to spare. My floors feel cleaner then ever. Still clean today. Thought we would need to run the bot every day but I’m thinking every other day will be plenty. Use the app!!! We did our research and we are incredibly impressed with this robot. We also used on suction only and normal power. No need for Max.” —Heather L Stahl

Reliable but affordable earbuds with over 64,000 5-star reviews on Amazon, a must-have if you’re simply not ready to *cut the cord*.

Panasonic ear buds in a variety of colors

Amazon

Promising review: “Compared to MANY other earbuds that I’ve had that cost $75, $100, $150, these sound as good as any of them. I’m astounded! I use these for running, and I’ve attached them to my sunglasses along with my iPod Shuffle. I figured for $8, I could afford to sweat up a few of these and replace them whenever I needed to. I’VE RUN 1,500 MILES WITH THESE in the last year and a half! I’ve gone through four pairs of New Balance shoes, two iPod Shuffles, three pairs of sunglasses, and am on the SAME set of earbuds! And, THEY STILL SOUND GREAT!” —Gene Goodell

Promising review: “I like iced coffee with high caffeine. This fits the bill perfectly and is a joy to use and drink. My Starbucks monthly bill has come down considerably after buying this unit, and I’m ready to hit the ground running that much sooner in the morning. I especially enjoy the self cleaning feature and the ability to run it for smaller or larger cup sizes. Truly a premium product.” —David T.

A set of touch bracelets so whether you and your partner live in different states or you haven’t been able to hang with your mom as often as you’d like during this weird year, you’ll be able to feel a sense of closeness whenever you need it.

UncommonGoods

Promising review: “I very much love this product. It makes my partner and I feel so much closer every time we tap since we live in different states. It really does help a lot with that distance. I usually tap the bond whenever I’m anxious or something during work and knowing my partner feels it and would tap back is very reassuring to know that they’re there even when far away or just random taps to know that he’s thinking of me. The only con that I have with this is that the bonds sometimes have a delayed timing but it’s easily resolved with restarting the app and your phone.” —Nightshade

A set of water detection alarms to alert you if you’ve had an unexpected leak in your bathroom or flood in your basement.

Five rounded, white sensors

Amazon

My father-in-law has been raving about these for months now. If you typically get water in your basement when it rains or are a little weary of that leaky pipe under your kitchen sink, you might want to invest in these. If the sensor feels any water, it’ll play a loud alarm to let you know before any damage is done.

Promising review: “The packaging for these units is excellent! They are packaged like Apple products (and even in a very similar white box). These units already have batteries in them, so although page 1 of the User Manual says ‘Install Batteries,’ you do NOT have to. They come with batteries and all you need to do is remove the battery insulation pull tab. I’ve placed all (5) units: (1) behind the fridge, (2) behind the washing machine under hoses, (3) under the front of washing machine, (4) next to the water heater and (5) next to the sump pump pit. Hopefully I’ll NEVER need to use them, but the peace of mind is a great thing!! Overall, very nice product!” Ray F.

Amazon, amazon.com

Promising review: “Do you want to add lights to your monitor, television, or just around a display? Then this is the product for you! Multiple sizes, easy to use, and perfect to add that extra something to whatever it is you’re working on! Purchased mine for behind my computer monitor and the amount of light is perfect when playing games or using my computer at night as the red setting helps keep me from having a bright light going on. Also great to add when watching videos or movies as you can color-match the screen to add a new layer to your experience. For the price and quality, you can’t beat it!” Timothy S. Smith

A microphone that’ll provide crystal clear audio if you’re a gamer who moonlights as a YouTuber, streaming your gameplay for all to see. This one will pick up your audio easily — no need to shout while your partner is *trying* to sleep.

A reviewer's photo of the microphone at their computer

Promising review: “I bought this microphone strictly to use for talking to friends in things like Discord and Skype while playing games, as the price looked very good for something that other reviewers stated was a good-quality microphone. It was extremely simple plug-and-play upon receiving it, and I have been told by multiple people on the listening end that it my voice sounds much clearer and better than the others that use headsets or the like. Some even asked what brand it was so they could look into getting their own, even though they already had $70 headsets. So the quality is extremely good for the price if you are using it casually or for hobbies.” Amazon Customer

A motion-activated toilet light, a must-have for anyone who is tired of stumbling over themselves when they get up in the middle of the night to pee.

amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: “I’ve had this device for a little while now and I absolutely love it! Light detector and motion detector work together to only turn the toilet light on when it senses darkness and movement. I love that there are 16 different colors you can choose from; and with each of the 16 colors, you can raise or lower the brightness, which kind of makes color choices even bigger if you consider the different color brightness a new color. You can either leave your toilet light cycling through all 16 colors while on, or you have the option of choosing one of the colors and keeping it on that color. I ended up getting two of these toilet lights for both of my bathrooms and my guest’s as well as I love it.” Sergio Rios

A universal hair diffuser from DevaCurl that’ll help you fight the good fight against frizz.

Amazon, amazon.com

Promising review: “Let me start by saying I’ve tried many different diffusers before this one. I have 3c/4a, very fine/flat curls. Normally when I diffuse, my hair is left a frizzy mess. I’ve resorted to sitting under a hooded dryer to avoid frizz. But then my hair dries super flat and weird. Not with the DevaFuser! I attach it to my blow-dryer from another brand. It fits perfectly. My hair dries in record time, with little to no frizz. I even have some volume on day one! I am really impressed. Give it a try. I hope it works just as well for you.” Britd03

A pizza oven the entire family can enjoy — from rolling out the dough and adding toppings to watching it cook over the flame, this is one gift you’ll get praised for.

the dome shaped outdoor pizza oven with a pizza being slid into it

oonihq / Via instagram.com

Promising review: “We’ve wanted a pizza oven for along time. The regular oven only gets to about 550F and the BBQ doesn’t cook the top of the pizza well enough. Then this amazing thing comes along. It delivers as promised. Read to launch pizzas in 20 minutes. In fact I found that lower than max temp worked perfectly and avoided the over-charred crust. The 16-inch size is nice to allow room to maneuver 12-13” pies around to cook them evenly. I used the provided dough recipe with success so far. I look forward to trying some other crust types. If you are on the fence about this, listen: Buy it! Nothing easier than gas. Pizzas on my second try came as good as the best restaurant pizzas I’ve had. Keep the toppings light and you will love it too.” —matthekman
