Hometown Cha Cha Cha stars Shin Min Ah as Yoon Hye Jin and Kim Seon Ho as Hong Du Shik and is set in the friendly neighborhood Gongjin. Although the two main character are Hye Jin and Du Shik, the drama tells the stories of all the residents of Gongjin and how they’ve fostered such a tight-knit community.

Woman and man looking at each other.

Now that the drama’s run officially ended, here are 16 of my favorite moments:

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

1.

Yi Jun’s reaction to his parents getting back together.

Child crying tears of joy while his parents console him.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha / Via tvN

This is truly one of my favorite scenes in the drama. I normally don’t cry watching any k-dramas or movies, but seeing Yi Jun’s raw and emotional scene immediately brought tears to my eyes. His pent-up emotions just poured out into this scene and made it so real. And the Ki Eun Yoo (the actor who plays Yi Jun) is just 8 years old!

2.

Mi Seon using her expensive mist to help Eun Chul.

Woman helping man get poster off of street lamp.

Although this was still early in their relationship, we really get to see that dynamic chemistry between the duo. Mi Seon is willing to help Eun Chul in any way that she can — truly a hopeless romantic. This scene just made me excited to see their relationship going forward!

3.

Hye Jin offering to tie Yun Kyung’s shoes.

Woman smiling.

For me, this was another one of the most memorable scenes in the drama. Even though Yun Kyung was that constant character who seemed to live a happy and content life, the Kim Ju Yeon (the actress who plays Yun Kyung) did such an incredible job portraying the struggles of motherhood, especially pregnancy. And, we got to see a whole lot of character development for Hye Jin! She starts to reveal her true feelings about Gongjin and just how much care she has for the residents.

4.

Seong Hyun continuing to go to Gam Ri’s house with gifts without any bad intensions.

Man giving elderly women snacks.

It was so cute to see Gam Ri’s nonchalance yet anticipation behavior when Seong Hyun continued to go to her house without fail! This moment also showed a lot of characterization with Seong Hyun, being that he truly is a good person at heart.

5.

Du Shik catching Seong Hyun just before he was about to fall in the ocean.

Man catching other man just before he falls in.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha / Via tvN

A pure moment of comic relief! Contrary to the typical k-drama scene where the man saves the woman from falling into the ocean, in this one, the man caught another man. This also introduced Seong Hyun into the main plot of the storyline and the writers did it so naturally.

6.

Ju Ri’s first encounter with Jun.

Celebrity with a cap.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha / Via tvN

Another scene of pure comic relief-it was so funny to see Ju Ri’s reaction to seeing Jun for the first time. With Jun being Ju Ri’s #1 favorite idol, you would think that she would’ve recognized and fan-girled over him, but nope! She takes a peek at his face and says that he’s a fake, which makes their meeting after that even more hilarious.

7.

Yi Jun and Bo Ra’s childhood friendship staying constant throughout the whole drama.

Two childhood friends actively talking to woman.

Yi Jun and Bo Ra are really friendship goals. Even though their personalities are polar opposites, it was so refreshing to see their friendship remain constant throughout the show. The actor and actress playing Yi Jun and Bo Ra (Ki Eun Yoo and Ko Do Yeon) did such great jobs portraying the two characters so naturally as if they were the characters themselves!

8.

Cheon Jae’s reaction to hearing that Hye Jin enjoyed one of his songs.

Man smiling brightly.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha / Via tvN

Keep in mind that this was during Cheon Jae and Hye Jin’s awkward stage after Hye Jin said some pretty mean things about Cheon Jae without knowing that he heard everything. But, this scene reconciled their relationship so well. We see Hye Jin’s first step of character development in trying to understand and adapt to the Gongjin community.

9.

Du Shik showing up to Hye Jin’s house after she didn’t show up to the neighborhood cleanup.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha / Via tvN

Since this is around the time that Hye Jin moved to Gongjin, she wasn’t used to the Gongjin traditions and events. Despite that, Du Shik is determined to make Hye Jin fit in and shows up to her house to make her go to the neighborhood cleanup. I think this scene does a good job showing just how different their two lifestyles are and how Hye Jin realizes she has to adapt to this new life ahead of her.

10.

When the neighborhood gathered to discuss the 3 Gongjin mysteries.

Community members talking together.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha / Via tvN

It was so funny to see the Gongjin residents speculating over Du Shik’s past and ridiculous theories they came up with it. Also, it built some suspense for future episodes and naturally set up the storylines for other characters like Eun Shul and Hwa Jeong.

11.

Du Shik and Seong Hyun’s petty restaurant scene.

Two men and one woman eating at a restaurant.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha / Via tvN

I thought this love triangle would bring tension, but it just brought more hilarious scenes instead! I really liked how this scene played out and how we see that Hye Jin is leaning more towards Du Shik without even realizing it! And Du Shik and Seong Hyun’s interactions with each other were just too cute-especially the dumping incident.

12.

Hwa Jung’s outburst to Yeong Guk and seeing the backstory of the reason for their divorce.

Woman with tears in her eyes.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha / Via tvN

First seeing Hwa Jung listening to Yeong Guk and Cheon Jae’s realtionship in the pouring rain outside the cafe and then seeing her yelling at Yeong Guk to not put his socks on the floor were two of the most heartbreaking and raw scenes in the whole drama. I love how that suspense was built until those last couple episodes and we see who Hwa Jung really is in terms of her relationship with Yeong Guk and confidence in herself.

13.

Du Shik finding Hye Jin’s shoe and Hye Jin’s excited reaction.

Pair of jewel studded shoes on shelf.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha / Via tvN

After Du Shik finds Hye Jin’s lost shoe in the ocean, he gives it to her in front of her house and Hye Jin is over the moon. Her reaction to finding that shoe was so cute, and so was Du Shik’s reaction to Hye Jin’s reaction. All the reactions to the shoe and to each other made this scene so beautiful (plus, the cinematography was great!).

14.

Hye Jin helping Nam Sook despite their clashes.

Woman helping another woman from getting scammed.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha / Via tvN

I knew there was something shady with Nam Sook and the bank guy from the start, and it was so refreshing to see Hye Jin step in to help Nam Sook. Even though Hye Jin and Nam Sook weren’t on good terms, Hye Jin showed a lot of character in pushing those aside and helping out a friend. All those morning runs Hye Jin went on really paid off in the end!

15.

Hye Jin giving Gam Ri implants and telling Gam Ri to not worry about the costs.

Old woman smiling.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha / Via tvN

This was another one of those scenes where we see Hye Jin’s character development. Although on the outside, she may seem like someone who solely cared about money, her actions spoke for themselves. Also, Gam Ri getting to eat all the squid she wanted was such a cute moment.

16.

Hye Jin Imitating Du Shik’s “Mary and Tom” saying.

Couple talking.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha / Via tvN

Such a flashback to Hye Jin and Du Shik’s first couple of encounters! I loved how this moment just circled back to the beginning of the show and how much their relationship has developed since then.
